To mark Women’s Sports Week we caught up with the inspirational Jo Baldwin, a mum of two who has overcome both breast and skin cancer to become the face of This Girl Can and a high profile M&S campaign whilst continuing her quest to get more women into sport. 

Today we gathered at London’s Grosvenor House to whittle our amazing shortlist down to the finalists who will join us on the 7th December at our award ceremony.

When Peter Charles announced at his 70th birthday party that he had decided to walk more than 1,500 miles for charity his friends and family were astounded. In fact most of them thought he must be drunk or simply mad! But after setting off on Valentine’s Day Peter stepped across the finish line today to prove to everyone that he is a truly determined man.

Today is Ellie Simpson’s 22nd birthday and she has certainly achieved a huge amount in that time! Ellie has Quadriplegic Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and three years ago whilst feeling increasingly isolated by her able-bodied peers she had a ‘lightbulb’ moment and turned to social media to change her life, and the lives of others with the same condition.

The iconic London Marathon is the biggest and most successful staging of the world’s greatest road race – and this year it broke a string of records.

 

Although Roy Hodgson remains an understated man, his legacy to the sporting world is anything but.
