Stand-out star of an unforgettable summer of cricket inspired England’s historic World Cup win before one of the greatest Test innings of all time

England's captain and talisman inspired his teammates and the whole country watching at home, as he won the World Cup Golden Boot in Russia.

There have been more than 50 years of hurt since England lifted the World Cup in 1966, with tournament highlights few and far between since then.

Since making his England debut in 2006, batting legend Alastair ‘Cooky’ Cook has cemented his position in cricketing history and run up impressive landmark records like no other.

 

Winning any athletics title is tough enough – but winning one at the age of 40 would generally have been considered impossible. Unless, of course, your name just happens to be Jo Pavey.
