That climb is impressive enough – but that only represented half of her challenge. The 17-year-old, who lives in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, had already sailed 440 miles around England’s south west coast to Wales. She sailed the boat – Miss Isle Too – by breathing through a straw in a specially-engineered bicycle helmet designed by her dad. She completed the trip in 12 legs, with the longest taking her 60 miles around Land’s End before she crossed the Bristol Channel to Swansea.

And then swapped her bike for a special Hart Walker walking aid to climb Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in Southern Britain. On reaching the summit, Lambert was asked how she felt – “not bad” came the answer.

That must surely be the understatement of 2014.

“Tash has achieved a dream; to see her stand at the top, she was so excited, seeing her face was incredible,” said her mum, Amanda. “Hopefully people will see that Tash can achieve things and that other people can as well. No matter what ability you have there’s always that little bit extra you can achieve.”
